Applying for MOI Certification

Criteria for the Italian Hospitality Seal are as follows： Compulsory requirements-

AT leasT 51% oF：the dishes and recipes on the menu musT be Italian;

AT leasT 30% oF：the wines on the wine lisTmusT be DOP;

Extra virgin olive oil musT be available;

The restauranT should have aT leasT one person working in the kitchen with proven experience/proficiency in Italian cooking;

The restauranTmusT employ aT leasT one person able to interacT with clients in ltalian;

Additional requirements -

The restauranT should have typical Italian-inspired elements;

The menu should be written in/translated intocorrecT Italian;

The setting and décor should be Italian-inspired;

The restauranT should make use oF：mainlyDOP and IGP products;

The restauranT should actively promote Italian products and culture;

IFyou think you have these qualifications we invite you to proceed with the candidacy process

Obtaining MOI Certification

The application and evaluation process musT be undertaken before the 30th oF：November each year.

Application：Interested restaurants may apply by sending the completed and signed application form to the Italian- South African Chamber oF：Commerce.

Admission：The Chamber verifies the documentation and forwards the application to the external Evaluation Committee.

Inspection：officials from the Chamber will visiT the candidate restauranT and compile a valuation check-list, together with photographs and customer testimonials.

Certification：After verifying the applicant’s compliance, the Evaluating Committee approves the application, awarding the restauranT with the “Italian Hospitality, Italian Restaurants in the World” certification.

Notification：Candidate restaurants are notified oF：the assessmenT by the Evaluating Committee, which will also recommend improvements and changes to be implemented where necessary.

Prize giving：Certified restaurants are presented with a certificate, a plaque and a glass adhesive logo. The local CCIE organizes a press conference with the participation oF ：local and national journalists.
